The Schaefer Center for Public Policy invites you to the William Donald Schaefer Memorial Conference and Award Ceremony on April 24th at The Westin Hotel in Annapolis. This year’s conference topic is Meeting Public Sector Workforce Needs. The conference and award ceremony celebrate the legacy of William Donald Schaefer, in whose honor the Schaefer Center was established.
During lunch, we will present the 2026 William Donald Schaefer Award to a special awardee, who will be announced at the ceremony.

The Summer Conference is held at the Roland Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, Worcester County. The annual conference draws nearly 2,000 local, state, and federal government official attendees and their families.
Approximately 30 continuing education sessions will be offered at the conference, featuring more than 80 speakers from the public and private sectors.
The conference also hosts state agency briefings, organization meetings, and regional county meetings as well as Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) committee meetings. Several education sessions are approved for the Academy for Excellence in Local Governance course credit.
